Biography
“Be yourself… everyone else is taken”
– Oscar Wilde.

This was quoted to me as a young man, and it changed my life! My purpose has been clear to me from a very young age, and the opportunities granted to me have accumulated here. I am honored that my life path has led me to HCS.

I am, above all else, the grateful father of two strong, healthy, and passionate teenage boys. As each of us can relate all too well; every decision begins with the well-being of my children. It is in this spirit that I endeavor to partner with each of you through this wonderful journey. Though I am a father, an adventurer, a dreamer, and an educator, I most clearly identify with the role of “student”. Mahatma Gandhi is quoted as stating, “Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever”. For me, this is a wonderfully poetic summary of the opportunities offered to young boys at Hampshire Country School.

Though I am new to HCS, I have enjoyed a long career working with adolescents and their families. My work began while in college facilitating adventure based, father and son trips with the vision of slowing down, opening doors, and inviting magic into those relationships. The simplicity of the goals and opportunities presented set a hook in me that endures still. I continued my journey leading teens through adventure-based leadership courses, various roles in therapeutic adventure programs, and finally on the other end of the phone from parents seeking support. For 18 years I have had the great privilege and responsibility of listening to, guiding, and supporting parents through the challenging task of placing their child into an environment outside of their home. In these years, I have come to understand the landscape of care, what truly works, and most importantly the critical role that parents hold in this process. In the end, it is all about these boys and their wonderful futures.

I believe in the power of the family dinner, being open and honest in all tasks, and living a life of service towards others. I very much look forward to the opportunity to meet each of you, share in this experience, and be available when the need arises.
