Biography

My name is Amanda Zaborowski, and I’m excited for my second year at HCS, where I’ll be teaching music and serving as a dorm parent! Although I grew up in a very musical family, music didn’t capture my heart right away. It wasn’t until I began teaching private lessons at 16 that I realized music isn’t just about perfection or technique. It’s a way to express yourself, explore new things, and find joy. That philosophy has shaped the way I teach, and it’s the same attitude I hope my students embrace: seeing music as meaningful, creative, and fun.

As a dorm parent, I’ve especially enjoyed getting to know students outside of the classroom and being part of their everyday routines. Whether it’s learning how to play Warhammer, going fishing, or exploring different areas of our amazing campus, I’ve found that those everyday moments are some of the most fun parts of being a dorm parent.

I attended Berklee College of Music as a violinist, where I ventured beyond the classical music world I had grown up in and explored nearly every musical style that interested me. Later, I moved to the West Coast for graduate work at the University of Oregon, where I held a teaching fellowship and performed with the Eugene Symphony.

Outside of teaching, I’m a mom of four kids and our dog, Nymh! We raise rabbits and chickens as small steps toward my ultimate dream of living on a farm. I love exploring new hobbies, whether it’s foraging, homesteading, or trying my hand at creative projects.

I’m excited to get to know the students, staff, and families at HCS this year and to build on the feeling of inspiration and possibilities!
