Biography

I’m excited to join Hampshire Country School as a History teacher and member of the Residential Life team. I graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in History, where I developed a particular interest in American history, especially the history and culture of the American South as I am from South Carolina.

I’ve always enjoyed working with young people and helping them learn and grow. Before coming to HCS, I worked as a camp counselor, where I supervised students, led activities, helped resolve conflicts, and worked to create a positive and supportive environment. I also spent six years as a boarding school student myself. That experience gave me a real appreciation for the importance of the adults who live alongside students. I was fortunate to have residential faculty who served as mentors and role models for me, and I’m excited to have the opportunity to be that person for HCS students. I also believe that it places me in a very unique opportunity as my experience as a boarding school student can be useful to students here.

In the classroom, I want my students to see history as more than just names and dates. I enjoy helping students understand the people, decisions, conflicts, and ideas that shaped the past, while encouraging them to ask questions and think for themselves. As a member of Residential Life, I also hope to help create a dorm environment where students feel supported, comfortable, and part of a community.

Outside of school, I enjoy following sports, spending time outdoors, reading about history, and exploring New England. I’m very excited to be at HCS and look forward to getting to know the students, families, and wider school community.
